Fiber Optic Installation

Spooled, Clamped or Suspended

Fiber Optic Installation
Fiber optic installation on a Carbon Capture Well
Fiber Optics – Spooled, clamped or suspended by our crews.

We install permanent fiber optic strings alongside casing or tubing, and run temporary fiber for well diagnostics. Distributed sensing needs a cable that survives the trip. That is the part we own.

  • Permanent fiber string installation
  • Fiber and gauge together
  • Fiber dips and temporary deployment
  • Clamps, protectors, wellhead exits
  • Carbon capture and storage wells

Our crews spool and clamp the fiber optic cable, install protectors and centralizers, run the wellhead exit, and terminate the surface connections. We install behind casing, on tubing, and as temporary deployments through tubing. The same crews and the same spooling fleet that install our permanent gauges install the fiber.

Because a distributed sensing system is only as good as the cable in the well, and the cable is at its most vulnerable on the way in. Fiber that is crushed at a clamp, pinched at a collar, or over-tensioned on the reel will not tell you anything, and there is no way to fix it once cement is set. The instrumentation is not the risk. The trip down the hole is. Our crews spool cable every week and treat fiber accordingly.

Yes, and the two are better together. Fiber gives you distributed measurement across the whole wellbore, temperature and acoustics along the length of it. A gauge gives you a discrete, calibrated pressure point that holds its calibration for years. One tells you where. The other tells you exactly what. See Permanent Monitoring Installation for what else can share a wellbore.

A temporary fiber deployment run into a live well, logged, and pulled. No completion change and no cement. It is how you get a distributed temperature or acoustic profile on a well that is already producing or injecting, and it is a fast way to find crossflow, injection distribution, or a leak before committing to a workover. Our thru-tubing unit runs fiber dips across North America.

Yes. We installed distributed acoustic and temperature sensing strings in storage wells. The monitoring is the deliverable, not an accessory to production, and the installation standard has to reflect that.

We install fiber optic cable and distributed sensing systems from the major suppliers. If you have selected a system, we will put it in the ground. If you need assistance scoping the project, we’re here to help.
