DataCan’s permanent monitoring systems allow users to place pressure and temperature gauges in the wellbore and, using an armored mono-conductor cable, transmit downhole pressure data to the surface in real time. DataCan’s permanent monitoring systems use quartz or piezo sensor technology in a highly reliable, electron beam welded, hermetically sealed gauge. These gauges are held in place using a gauge carrier and gauge protector custom designed to suit the customer’s needs. DataCan provides high or low cost clamps and cabling solutions as well as CSA approved wellhead exits. DataCan’s surface box comes standard with a display and memory and an output signal allowing you to control pumps or valves. You can also transmit collected data via a cell phone or satellite modem right to your desk. DataCan systems are designed to run on 12V and a solar power cell can be supplied if required.
Permanent monitoring systems are growing in demand. The installation of a DataCan permanent monitoring system is very simple. This simplicity leads to higher system reliability. The simplicity also helps to lower costs, lower installation times, and fewer mistakes. DataCan’s permanent monitoring system is a very economical reservoir evaluation solution.

DataCan’s Surfaces Boxes are used to collect and store downhole data and can be used to control pumps or valves by sending a signal to the pump or valve controller. Surface boxes come standard with a display and memory, and have a 20 million sample capacity. The surface boxes have a ModBUS and 4-20 Output that allows users to send data to a nearby SCADA, or other data acquisition, system. Users can also transmit collected data via a cell phone or satellite modem right to your desk.
DataCan provides supplies welded and solid (non-welded) gauge carriers that are pressure testable and have a reliable metal to metal seal to prevent leaks from entering. Our permanent carriers have high burst and collapse pressures and can be configured to measure both internal (tubing) and external (annulus) pressures.
DataCan designs and manufactures a number of permanent downhole gauges to meet the needs of the customer. DataCan’s permanent downhole gauges are characterized by their fully welded construction, hermetically sealed electronics and dual protection metal to metal seal design. They measure both temperature and pressure, with a vibration sensor option, and are permanently installed downhole for real time data.
Downhole permanent clamps are used to hold the conductor tube snug against the tubing string while protecting the conductor tube from any damage that may occur downhole. The clamps are installed on the collars, which is where they would most likely otherwise be pinched or damaged. DataCan offers a light duty, low cost, cable clamp and a heavy duty, more robust, cable clamp, depending on the customer’s needs.
Splices are used in downhole permanent systems to join two conductor cables. The splices must provide a reliable electrical connection as well as a durable, leak resistant, mechanical connection. DataCan offers three types of cable splices to best meet the customer’s needs, all of which have crimp/crimp electrical connections, metal to metal seals and are corrosion resistant.
